yeah. i am back from the kingdom of cambodia and the eight days was really really well spent and really enjoyed many moments of the trip. the weather was blardy hot but it was worth heading out for all the stone wonders that the ancient khmer kingdom had built. when you reach the monuments, you’ll get that “textbooks-come-to-live” (urm, for our case, powerpoint-slides-came-to-live”) feeling. it was great to finally behold, touch, scale and experience everything. though many parts of many popular monuments are amidst rigourous restoration and cleaning (and they deserve to be), it was already an overwhelming experience. to top it all off, the people of cambodia are really really nice, warm and friendly. much less can be said about their often-publicised neighbours. yeah sure, after looking at over a dozen temple complexes consecutively for seven days, i got slightly “stoned-out” and the temple complexes started to look kinda similar to each other. however, on hindsight, you’ll find that you are still able to pick out what’s unique and significant in each of the otherwise similar temple complexes.
yeah, not gonna bore people with my day-to-day itinerary, my two-module worth of asian art information or throngs of pictures, but here’s a summary of my trip in fourteen pictures (out of my nearly 2500 pictures).
hmmm. where should i head next? myanmar? or maybe taiwan? hmm. i have another half a holiday + another semester to think about it.
