pardon the changes that are going around my website. it is currently going through a revamp to make my website lighter and less flash-reliant :)
when i stuff my ears and the music comes on, my body begins to move like it’s on the dancefloor. my eyes goes dim and I recluse into my own world. then the screaming goes quiet and the pain ceases to exist. what a thrill.

i have conquered six semesters, and it’s down to these last two semesters. can’t believe it is already time to crank it up for the final year project. before i know it, i will be out of school and back in the working world. whether that is a good thing or not, it is always disputable. when i am in school, i would yearn to work. when i work, i would yearn to be in school. sigh.

well, as blogged previously, the semester began rather sluggish. most of us felt absolutely lost and directionless. we began to doubt our capabilities and passion. nevertheless, most of us managed to work it when it was time to work it.
the fruits of the labour was reaped in our graphic design four module final project. the project was titled dictionary where we were asked to define ourselves as designers and as person. it was a precursor to our final year project, and a good opportunity to reflect upon the very core of our being. i really enjoyed working on the project, and was rather pleased with the end results :) this piece of work have been included into my online portfolio. check it out yeah?
also, it is observable that, all in all, there was a major improvement amongst my peers! was absolutely blown away and inspired by their work. i really need to start getting a breakthrough. i am so darn stagnant in my work :(

i was very fortunate to be able to get out of the country for a week during the semester as well :) brian, aida and i were at bali with professor nanci takeyama, helping her with her research and documentation on the palanquins used during the melasti at pura bersakih. it was my first trip to bali, a culture that i have always been intrigued with but never had to opportunity to go. what made it more incredible was the exclusive access around the temple complex during the festival which was otherwise closed to foreign visitors if not for nanci’s research project. the experience was so awesomely interesting. i would most definitely make a reprise visit to bali again.
i am also reminded this semester that there are just some people that you cannot trust. especially in adm. you never know what you say or didnt say could be used against you. have to be extra careful with my words from now on. hemf.
finally, the highly-anticipated summer break is here. summer is always great for us university students. it is the much-needed rest that we need from the insanity of the semester. but there’s internship this break, so not so restful :D YAY, going to foreign policy! in any case, a number of us made a trip up to kuala lumpur for the kl design week. we were there to attend a two-day conference. i was really just there to listen to the very inspiring reza abedini (check out my picture with him! thanks elena for the picture). of course, he did not disappoint. unexpectedly, there were also some big names that i had failed to notice earlier–andrew byrom, patrick burgoyne (editor, creative review), yamashita (creative director, +81), birgit lohmann (editor, designboom) and sven ehmann (creative director, gestalten and etc publications). was also pleasantly amused to see the adm corporate identity presented by berlin/singapore duo me and mr jones, and the work done by the folks at GOD 住好的 (hong kong).
and. oh man. my good friend, yuliang, from singapore polytechnic is getting married! geez, that’s fast! it’s gonna be weddings one after another from now on. neverthless, congratulations mannn!
it’s gonna be a great summer. i know it :)
